ONCE UPON A TIME...
There was a girl, who got the chance to speak for five minutes at a youth conference at her current church. When she was closing her message a boy started clapping and said firmly: "Nice". The girl apparently interacted with the boy, but the girl can't really remember. A few months later they interacted again. On a parkinglot of the Mcdonalds, in Leeds, Bradford for a conference in March 2016. The girl was hangry and the boy figured this would be a perfect time to have small talk. After a short but sweet conversation they enjoyed the rest of the conference and saw eachother occasionally in the church hallways.
A short while later a leadership training was given in church and the girl and boy were to attend both. But unfortunatley the girl had work scheduled on the training day and she couldn't attend the training anymore. So one day, they saw eachother and the boy pointed out that he missed her during the course and that he took on the workbook that was there for me. He casually mentioned that one subject was called "Teach to learn", where you teach someone else the subjects and that way learn the subjects better yourself. The girl responded with a "oh". And after the boy suggested he could teach the course she went home with butterflies.
Evenings went by and the more they hung out, the more they started liking each other. One night ended in a 4,5 hour dinner on the Gijsbrecht,at Pasta. And eventually after she spoke at a youth night, he texted some compliments which ended with: "I'd like to take you out on a date". The girl agreed and the date nights came and went by. She fell more and more in love with the guy and eventually the moment came, awaited by many many friends and family. The girl and the boy are officially a couple.
In a joyful and loving 1,5 years the couple we're enjoying their steady relationship. Dropping some subtle hints (read: full on talk about weddings and pinterest) here and there, the girl indicated that getting married was fun. And since a couple of our friends were getting married, marriage was a reoccurring subject in our conversations. Eventually. After amazing date nights, the magical day came..
The girl and boy went to Amsterdam for a day date and the boy was in charge of thinking of the schedule, surprise the girl. Over the span of the day the boy gave the girl tiny, thoughtful gifts and surprised her with a very nice lunch. Then they walked around Amsterdam and laid down in the Vondelpark and read a book. They walked around some more and they hopped between some craftbeer cafe's. Around 4 pm he casually says: "Why don't we go to the Soestduinen tonight, we could watch the sunset?" - Our ultimate date night place - And the girl agreed, at 4 pm. Around 6 pm they were still in the cafe in Amsterdam and the girl got a little annoyed, because it would take at least 1,5 hours to get to Soesterduinen en the sun was about to go down. So at 7.30 pm the boy finally decided to go (mind you, he had asked our friends to prepare a spot in the Duinen around 8.30 pm). At around 8.30 pm they were at the girl's home and we're supposed to bike to the duinen (15 min bike ride). The boy decided to drink a coffee and slowly get ready. The girl? Strongly annoyed at this point. They would miss the sunset. Eventually, after racing (the girl rarely biked that hard) to the Soesterduinen and they walked in. The girl; wanted to just walk to the place where the sun was still singing. The boy; was trying to locate his friends who were at the opposite side of the Duinen. They walked and walked and the girl was about done with the waking and close to walking off the boy pointed out something in the distance. A blanket with glitter, a guitar, flowers, champagne and some friends hiding in the bushes. They walked over and the boy started serenading her with a self-written song. Ending with a ring and the question: "Do you want to marry me, babe?".
We're thankful for our friends Peter, Else, Lisette en Sander for help set up the amazing proposal. Thankful for Job van Slooten for shooting our engagement shoot. Thankful for Romy Dermout for the other pictures on the site. Thankful for all our friends and family who are supporting and loving us.
